Week 10 again delivered, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' saying that draws so many fans into the NFL
That result may have opened opportunities for the Patriots to move back into a top spot they formerly held, with a schedule that gives them an edge over their 8-2 rivals
Over in the NFC the Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to arrange a major confrontation next week, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the Most Valuable Player award
The Breakdown - Simply an Off Day for Buffalo?
Was it just an emotional comedown from beating the Chiefs the previous week or a deeper issue? That's the question for the Buffalo team to address
The Bills had secured seven victories in a row against Miami but were second best from the beginning as the Dolphins ran out 30-13 victors in an eye-opening result - and display
MVP Josh Allen only achieved the team's opening first down in the third quarter and initial scoring in the fourth - admittedly Miami had ten days to get ready but it was still a significant failure laid by one of the NFL's best offenses
Dolphins quarterback Tua threw two touchdowns but running back De'Von Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 combined yards and two scores
Bottling up the league's best rushing attack was crucial too, with James Cook and teammates recording just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the season and just over half their 161.5-yard average
Then there were the three critical ball losses, and the two from Josh Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the end zone meaning a nine minute possession yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter fumble that Miami turned into seven points just later
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, getting into a deficit on defensive side and Josh Allen attempting to do too much to dig his team from the situation - rather than the calm, controlled, well-balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this year
The Dolphins have served up a bit of everything this season so the jury's out on if this is the beginning of something, but for the Bills they'll require an immediate bounce-back in a tough game against Tampa Bay in week 11 as the New England are sneaking into a nice lead at the top of the American Football Conference East
Spotlight - New England See Path to Surprise Top Seed
Regarding the New England, they're one of three different 8-2 teams in the league, all AFC sides, but could they be the best?
One could pick holes in New England, the Broncos and the Colts actually for dominating the weaker opponents, with just five of their total 24 wins achieved against opponents with a winning record - and one example was the Indianapolis defeating the Broncos
The Broncos beat the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are kings of the final quarter while Indianapolis can ride Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their prime time success in Buffalo seems like a statement
Their pair of losses occurred in recently appointed coach Vrabel's first three contests, with seven consecutive victories, just like the Broncos, since then - but defeating Baker Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a week off to get ready was huge
Maye's MVP claims won't go away, and he definitely deserves point for courage after taking some hard tackles in Tampa but hanging in there to guide his side to victory
The defense is solid and rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson exploded on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating touchdowns of 55 and 69 yards - establishing himself as just the fifth ball carrier to exceed 22 miles per hour this season on his first score
While you can argue who 'the best' is technically, the Pats should be favourites to end with the top record due to their remaining opponents - which features just one game against a successful opponent, although a significant contest against Buffalo
Traveling to the Ravens is challenging too, but the Broncos have it even tougher in the AFC West division with the Chiefs to play twice, the Chargers (who might also challenge for top seed but face the same problem) and additionally the Packers on the schedule
The Indianapolis also face the Chiefs, and have the Seattle, San Francisco and two games with the 5-4 Jaguars to contend with. There is a considerable distance to go but the opportunity is available for a surprise number one position in the American Football Conference
Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Prepare for Week 11 Showdown
Two teams with strong arguments to be better than all of the three different 8-2 teams are National Football Conference West rivals the Seattle and Rams, who each scored forty points to reach 7-2 before next week's Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the two in Los Angeles
Both have secured four victories in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an high standard (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on game day) with excellent pass catchers, and defensive units giving up under 20 points a contest
Both could realistically be undefeated as too - especially the Rams as their two defeats came in extra time against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a potentially winning field goal with the final play deflected and run back by the Eagles for a touchdown
The Seahawks were also defeated to San Francisco, with a last-minute score in week one, before falling to the last kick of the contest against the Tampa Bay - so they're truly two of the best sides in the NFL
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the season so far
Player of the Week - Taylor
Taylor could be on for a historic year after his remarkable performance in Germany - rushing for 244 rushing yards, registering three scores and contributing an additional forty-two {receiving yards
