Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The latest action-packed title that players explored was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for embracing chaos and madness with equal glee, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two visionaries whose projects have exemplified all of those elements.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game property, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by featuring a new setting and group of personalities in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their constant belief and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology program. Each game is a take of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always examining the essence of people through this intricate and turbulent viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to work with Rob and present our shared unconventional, daring style to the television.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
