President Trump Welcomes Relatives of Injured Guard Personnel to the White House

President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.

He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Tragic Incident

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Memorials across the state have taken place in their honor.

Presidential Offer

The commander-in-chief stated he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president told reporters. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Support

Attendees assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to support policing efforts in DC.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers hoped for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the media. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to support those in need.”

Memorial plans for Sarah are still being arranged.

Judicial Measures and Policy Revisions

Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while armed.

The event led the Trump administration to halt refugee claims and temporarily stop providing entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Morrisey stated on television.

Attorney general the attorney general stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to the family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with honor, per the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had bravery,” Morrisey told the gathering at the service. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
