Six Suspects Apprehended After €12 Million Armed Raid on Precious Metals Facility in the French Republic

A team of six suspects equipped with assault rifles and handguns detonated charges to force entry into a precious metals processing plant located in the city of Lyon, resulting in minor injuries to five workers during what appears to be the newest significant daytime heist to hit France.

The daring raid was carried out on the afternoon of Thursday, with police forces swiftly apprehending the individuals believed responsible and securing the stolen items assessed at around €12M (10.5 million pounds), as stated by authorities.

Five workers of Laboratoires Pourquery received light wounds as a result of the detonation, and three individuals required hospital checks for assessment, officials confirmed. A total of twenty-eight staff were present on-site when the robbers attacked.

The suspects, thought to be experienced criminals, were detained soon afterwards in the nearby town of the town of Vénissieux, authorities revealed.

A female participant who took part in the raid was also apprehended, officers confirmed.

“Six suspects who utilized explosives in a raid against a metals processing plant in Lyon, France were apprehended red-handed,” the nation's interior minister announced via X, commending law enforcement for their “quick action, authority and management”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were recovered as well.

The raid happened as law enforcement in France on that Thursday apprehended five additional individuals, including a primary suspect, in connection with the recent audacious raid on the Louvre museum.

Many investigative personnel have been pursuing four perpetrators who used a vehicle equipped with a moving lift and cutting gear to break into an upper-level exhibition space at the renowned museum on October 19th, fleeing with jewelry valued at approximately €88M.

In a separate high-profile case, thieves last month broke into the Natural History Museum in Paris, stealing gold samples valued at more than one million dollars. A 24-year-old Chinese woman was arrested earlier this month in Barcelona in regarding the theft, officials confirmed.

The sequence of heists has sparked worry in the nation regarding insufficient protection at cultural venues and other facilities containing precious artifacts.
