Two Victims Revealed in the Ivy League School Attack as Police Press On With Search for Perpetrator.

Two students who were killed in Saturday’s tragic incident at Brown University were honored at the start of the week – as a manhunt for their killer continued following the freeing by local law enforcement of the single suspect of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

Her role included vice-president of Brown’s chapter of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed sympathies on social media, remarking: “Words cannot express. Keeping in mind her kin and peers, above all her mom and dad.”

An International Student

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sibling Samira said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were injured in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s university in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man detained in a search at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“There is a killer at large,” said Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and go in another, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “This will probably generate new worry for our public”.

The assailant opened fire inside a room in the engineering building on Saturday afternoon, firing more than 40 rounds from a handgun, a police source told the media outlet.

Police that raided the inn found a pair of pistols and two loaded 30-round magazines when the individual was arrested, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Among those wounded, one student was discharged from care, said the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in critical but stable condition, and another was critically ill, officials reported on Sunday.

An educational institution, a private K-12 school in Durham, North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

More Condolences

Cook was remembered at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only here growing up... but at the university she was a radiant presence in that particular place as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the club. “Ella was known for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she served her chapter and peers,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “We extend our sincere condolences to his relatives, friends, and fellow students and mourn the loss of his promising future.”
